Manybar Goatfish

Parupeneus multifasciatus

Colouration highly variable from light grey-brownish to dark scarlet. Short, dark stripe at the rear of the eye and two dark patches at the body rear.

Size : 30 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and out reefs, above coral, sand and rubble, 3-140 m. Searches for food alone or in small loose groups during the day.

Distribution : Cocos Keeling and Christmas Islands to S Japan, Hawaii and Pitcairn.
