Longbarbel Goatfish

Parupeneus macronemus

Base of the second dorsal fin with black stripes. Black stripe from the eye to rear of body, black spot on tail stalk.

Size : 30 cm

Habitat : Inhabits lagoons, bays and outreefs, 3-35 m. Common and not shy. In vicinity of coral. It ranges alone or in small groups above sand rubble areas in search of invertebrate bottom-dwellers.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to the Philippines and New Guinea.
