Goldsaddle Goatfish

Parupeneus cyclostomus

Purple blue, greenish and blue-grey. Tail stalk often with yellowish saddle. A monochrome yellow variant is not uncommon.

Size : 50 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and out reefs, Above coral, sand and rubble, 2-95 m. Moves alone or in small fish, can drive these from their hiding-pace with its barbels.

Distribution : Red Sea, East Africa to SW Japan and Pitcairn.
