Pterocaesio tile

Silvery-blue with dark scale stripes on the back and a dark horizontal stripe.
During the day, Dark-banded Fusiliers often form huge schools over or near a reef.

Size : 25 cm

Habitat : In clear lagoons and outreefs, 5-40 m. Feeds on zooplankton. The coloration of the lower body half switches to reddish-brown whenever it comes into the reef, e.g. in order to seek protection or let itself be cleaned.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, New Caledonia, Rapa and French Polynesia.
