Shaggy Anglerfish

Antennarius hispidus

Body often with dark elongated stripes, depending on colour variants, similar to A. striatus. Fishing rod about as long as the second fin ray. Great globular bait with fine filaments.

Size : 18 cm

Habitat : Inhabits rock and coral reefs, also near reef sandy surfaces, 3-70 m. Often near leaves that have fallen into the water whose colouration it imitates. Very inconspicuous in such an environment.

Distribution : East Africa to Taiwan, Fiji and Australia.
