Tiger Sole

Soleichthys heterorhinos

Dark vertical bands. Fin edges often blueish.

Size : 16 cm

Habitat : On sand areas near the reef, less often on hard ground, 1-15 m. At night, it may swim a short distance above the seabed. With their blue edge fringe, juveniles possibly imitate poisonous flatworms.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Marshall Islands, SE Australia and Samoa.
