Peacock Sole

Pardachirus pavoninus

Numerous different large, bright patches. The larger usually with a dark got in the middle.

Size : 30 cm

Habitat : Inhabits sand and mud flats in reef vicinity, 1-40 m. Often buried up to their eyes and nostrils. Predominantly feeds on bottom-dwelling invertebrates. Secretes a milky poison from pores at the base of the back and anal fin.

Distribution : Sri Lanka to S Japan and Tonga.
