Barred Filefish

Cantherhines dumerilii

Two pairs of yellowish barbs on the tail stalk. Yellow eye-ring.

Size : 38 cm

Habitat : Inhabits clear lagoons and outreefs, 1-35 m. Frequently swims in pairs. Feeds predominantly on the tips of branched coral, also on various invertebrate bottom-dwellers.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, Hawaii, Mexico and Ducie Islands.
