Purple Dottyback

Pictichromis porphyrea

All purple-colored, which makes it easy to identify.

Size : 6 cm

Habitat : In steep outer reef slopes and channels, 5-50 m. Alone or in small loose groups. In front of small cavities in the reef wall, above coral or rubble, always hovers very close to the seabed.

Distribution : The Philippines to SW Japan, Palau, the Moluccas, Marshall Islands and Samoa.
