Pale-tail Chromis

Chromis xanthura

Adult: Dark metallic black-grey with dark-edged scales. Tail base and fin are white.
Juveniles are silvery-grey to blue-silver with yellow dorsal, anal and caudal fins. Frequently encountered in front of soft coral and sea whips.

Size : 15 cm

Habitat : Prefers steep outer reefs, 3-40 m. Usually in loose groups.

Distribution : Cocos Keeling to SW Japan, Line Islands and Pitcairn.
