Cheilodipterus macrodon

Brown horizontal stripes. Pale white tail root for juveniles with a diffuse dark band.

Size : 25 cm

Habitat : Inhabits protected, coral-rich lagoons and out reefs, 0.5-40 m. Alone, sometimes also in small group, usually in caves or below overhangs, less often outside. Stays in same territory. Feeds predominantly on small fish.

Distribution : Red Sea, Arabian Gulf and East Africa to SW Japan and French Polynesia.
