Pajama Cardinalfish

Sphaeramia nematoptera

Red iris. Ochre head, dark band beneath the first dorsal fin, body rear is whitish with reddish-brown spots.

Size : 8 cm

Habitat : In protected bays, lagoons and coastal reefs, 1-14 m. In groups during the day, often between branch coral (e.g. Porites cylindrica) At night scavenges the seabed for food.

Distribution : Java and Bali to SW Japan, Palau and Pohnpei in Micronesia, GBR and Fiji.
