Orangelined Cardinalfish

Taeniamia fucata

Black spot on tail base. A pair of blue stripes dean through the eyes over the snout.

Size : 8 cm

Habitat : Inhabits protected lagoons and out reefs, 2-60 m. Usually in relatively dense groups at places offering shelter, such as cavities or branch coral. Feeds at night on zooplankton.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan and Samoa.
