Cheilodipterus quinquelineatus

Five black horizontal stripes, yellow tail spot with black dot, which is slightly above the central vertical stripe.

Size : 12 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and out reefs,1-40 m. Usually in congregations in front of coral and rocks during the day. Also seeks protection between coral branches and the long barbs of Diadem sea urchins. Active during the day, feeds on crustaceans and small fish.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia, SE Australia and French Polynesia.
