Blackstriped Cardinalfish

Ostorhinchus nigrofasciatus

Brown to black background with four whitish to yellow stripes.

Size : 9 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outer reef slopes, 3-50 m. Alone or in pairs, often at the base of coral formations, below overhangs or in front of cavities and crevices. Feeds on invertebrate bottom-dwellers.

Distribution : Red Sea, East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
