Saddleback Butterflyfish

Chaetodon falcula

Two large, wedge-shaped black saddle spots. Tail base with black stripes.

Size : 20 cm

Habitat : In coral-rich lagoons and out reefs, often in the reef edge area and upper reef slope, 1-15 m. Usually in pairs, sometimes also in small groups. Not shy. Predominantly feeds on small invertebrates.

Distribution : East Africa to Mauritius, Chagos Islands, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Andaman Sea.
