Pyramid Butterflyfish

Hemitaurichthys polylepis

White pyramid-shaped area and two yellow addle spots on the back.

Size : 18 cm

Habitat : Prefers outer reef slopes exposed to current, 3-50 m. Usually in large formations and often several meters away from the reef, in order to feed on zooplankton in the open water.

Distribution : Coco Keling and Christmas Islands to SW Japan, Hawaii and Pitcairn.
