Longnose Butterflyfish

Forcipiger longirostris

Extremely long tube snout, white breast with black spots.

Size : 22 cm

Habitat : At coral-rich out reefs, preferably at steep slopes, 5-60 m. Uncommon, swims alone or in pairs through the reef and feeds on very small invertebrates, especially crustaceans, which it sucks in whole with tis tube mouth.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
