Forceps Butterflyfish

Forcipiger flavissimus

Long snout, white breast without black dots.

Size : 22 cm

Habitat : Prefers out reefs, 2-114 m. Common. Has the largest distribution area of all butterflyfish. Alone, in pairs or in small groups. Feeds on small crabs, also plucks feet from starfish, grapplers from sea urchins and tentacles from bristleworms.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, Central America and Easter Islands.
