Yellowtail Fangblenny

Meiacanthus atrodorsalis

Blue-grey at the front, merging to yellow towards the back. Line from the eye diagonally up to the dorsal fin.

Size : 11 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outreefs, 1-30 m. Is imitated by Escenius bicolor and Plagiotremus laudandus. Usually stays a short distance above the seabed. Feeds on plankton and bottom-dwelling invertebrates.

Distribution : Bali and NW Australia to the Philippines, SW Japan, GBR and Samoa.
