Shorthead Sabretooth Blenny

Petroscirtes breviceps

Whitish to pale yellowish with three dark horizontal stripes.

Size : 12 cm

Habitat : Inhabits protected reefs, preferably above sandy muddy or algae-covered surfaces, 1-15 m. Alone, in pairs or in small groups. Resembles the poisonous three-striped blennies and thereby obtains greater protection from predators. Inhabits small rock hole, empty worm burrows, in bays with civilization waste.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Yap, Solomons and New Caledonia.
