Sideband of dark vertical stripes.

Size : 14 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outreefs, 1-20 m. Swims with winding movements, usually a short distance above the seabed. Bites skin, scales and pieces of fin off fish in surprise attacks. Seeks safe retreat in rock holes or empty worm burrows.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Line Islands and French Polynesia.
