False Cleanerfish

Aspidontus taeniatus

Snout just beyond the mouth.

Size : 12 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and protected outreefs, 1-25 m. Imitator of (mimics) the normal cleanerfish. Bites off pieces of skin, fin parts or scales from other fish. Often in a small burrow during the the day, where its head is visible.

Distribution : Read Sea and East Africa to S Japan, SE Australia and French Polynesia.
