Stocky Anthias

Pseudanthias hypselosoma

Male: red spot on dorsal fin, rounded caudal fins with a thin, blue fringe at the back edge. Female: slightly indented caudal fin with red tips.

Size : 19 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and protected outreefs, 10-35 m. Readily stays at coral heads and protrusions. Forms smaller groups or large congregations.

Distribution : The Maldives to SW Japan, Palau, GBR, New Caledonia and Samoa.
