Zebra Angelfish

Genicanthus caudovittatus

Male with zebra pattern. Female: Black stripe above and below caudal fin.

Size : 20 cm

Habitat : Denizens of coral-rich outer reef slopes, 15-17 m, usually beneath 25 m. Usually in harem groups of one male and 5 to 9 females on about 25 sq.m territory. Feeds on zooplankton. The males can be observed higher in the water than the females.

Distribution : Red Sea to the Maldives and East Africa south to Mozambique.
