Spine-cheek Clownfish

Amphiprion biaculeatus

Luminous red to brown-red, large female is usually dark reddish-brown to black-red. Only anemone fish with a spine protruding from its gill cover.

Size : 8 cm (male), 16 cm (female)

Habitat : In lagoons and protected outer reefs, 1-18 m. Lives exclusively with Bubble Anemone Entacmaea quadricolour.

Distribution : Burma, Thailand, Malaysia and Sumatra to the Philippines, GBR and Vanuatu.
