Description

These spiders vary in color from brown to almost black, often with different color patterns on their bodies, and have a body shape similar to that of the widow spider. Male individuals have a less rounded abdomen than female individuals of this species. The size and coloration of this species allows the spider to blend into the background and go unnoticed.

Including the group of insectivores, usually eat small insects such as flies, mosquitoes, ants, and wasps. They can randomly attack grasshoppers, butterflies, cockroaches or other spiders depending on their size. If the prey is too agile, the spider will try to shoot the web from a distance before pulling the string towards itself.

Mating Habits

This species can live more than a year after maturity. Females of this species suspend their egg sacs in their webs, and the egg sacs are spherical in shape with a thin, brown outer layer. Each egg sac contains 150-200 eggs, one female produces 15-20 egg sacs during her lifetime. After emerging from the egg sac, the baby spider remains in its mother’s web for several days.
