Gongylosoma baliodierum is a small snake with large eyes, a rounded snout and a head slightly wider than its neck. The upper part is brown or grayish brown, with two rows of pairs of light and dark spots along the back. There may be a black dotted line along the underside of the sides of the body. The scales on the lips are white or yellow, with black edges. The stomach is white, yellow, pink or reddish, with or without darker spots. Round pupils. The upper third of the iris of the eye is slightly pinkish in color, in contrast to brown. The color pattern is most clearly seen in young individuals, and begins to fade in adult snakes, especially near the tail. This species is not dangerous.
