Description

Rusa timorensis is protected in Indonesia because the population is decreasing. It has small body where the males are bigger than females, a sunken forehead, short legs, relatively large incisors, a long tail, and yellowish-brown hair. The males have yellowish-brown hair all over the body, while the females have greyish-brown on the ventral of the feet, stomach, chin, and under part of the neck. The male has large, slender, long and forked antlers while in the females have no antlers.
