Vespa analis

Description

Vespa analis varies in color and pattern, generally it has black colored body except the tip or the sixth segment of the body which is yellow. In Singapore it is slightly lighter with red or orange head and pronotum, while in sub-tropical rgian it has yellow head. Vespa analis build the nest on the trees 60-80 m above the ground, the nest envelope is usually quite dark and sturdy, and has a coarsely imbricate pattern, with large, obvious overlapping circular sections.
