Description

Vespa velutina characterized with dark brown body and black thorax. First three segment is dark brown with yellow brown backside margin, the fourth segment is yellow brown with reddish brown on the tip of abdomen. The legs are dark except the ends are yellow. The front of the head is yellow orange, brown antenna with black tip. Workers and queens are very similar, although the queens are generally heavier; however the males have bigger antennas and absence of the sting.
