Male Cricula trifenestrata is brown, ochreous, yellowish to reddish. The forewings are consisted of wavy dark line and have one or two transparent spots above, the upper spot is darker. The hindwings have oblique line continued to the margin before the middle part. The ventral side is purple. Female is red. Forewings have black line and have three transparent spots with irregular shape. Male wingspan is about 6,5 cm while the female is about 8 cm.
The larvae are black with red spots and hairy. There are 6 tubercles in each somits starts from the 2nd to 11th somite. The first somite and anal are crimson colored, while the legs are brown.
The pupa release golden silk fiber. The cocoons are yellow covered by yellowish golden silk fibers. The incubation lasts for 21-26 days, however during the climate condition it may last for 2-3 months.
