Diet : Herbivore (larva), Nectarivore

Mating Habits

Odontoptilum angulata reproduces by laying eggs (oviparous), the eggs are brownish white, dome-shaped and vertically striped.

Life cycle (Metamorfosis) : The eggs are very pale brownish white, dome shaped, and have vertical stripes. Next to it is a plume of fluffy pink hair from the butterfly’s body, which can provide protection against the tiny wasps that often become parasites of butterfly eggs. The caterpillars are white and have a very coarse texture due to the large number of tiny tubercles and vertical wrinkles in each segment. The chest tapers towards the head, which is dark brown and covered with pale fur. Behind the head is a dark red ribbon. A cocoon is formed on the lower surface of the leaf, tied by a cremaster and a loose belt of silk strands. It is a beautiful object, pure white in color but marked on the back and sides by a row of large, raised black dots, and on a wing box with fine black lines. On both sides of the chest there is a bright orange tubercle.
