Polyura hebe

Description

Polyura hebe has forewings with a strongly arched costa, a pointed apex and a concave termen. The upper side of the wing is greenish-white with a wide black border from the apex towards the tornus or the base of the costa, there is a large greenish-white spot in room 5. The hindwings have a series of white spots on the edges. The underside of the wing has a large, silvery green median area with a wide brown to dark brown border. This species has a pair of short tails.

Larva: Polyura hebe larvae are green, the head is black with 2 pairs of horns, the lower horns are shorter and straight while the upper horns are longer and curved. At the 5th instar the color of the caterpillar turns dark green with a silvery green crescent along its body, the horns on its head turn green.

Pupa: Polyura hebe pupae are green in color with white lines, thick in shape like berries, pupa about 17-19 mm long.

Larvae of Polyura hebe eat the leaves of their host plants Adenanthera pavonina, Parkia speciosa and Paraserianthes falcataria. Besides that, they also eat plants from members of the Leguminosae.
