Chliaria othona has dark metallic blue upper wings, dark black apical area, hindwings are black on the costa, apex and outline. The underside of the wings are whitish gray with brownish marks. This butterfly has a black tail with a white tip, white cilia with a gray tip. The female species has brownish gray upperwings with silvery pale blue patches.
Larva: larvae of Chliaria othona are onisciform or broad and wide with a red dorsal band and a red stripe on each side. Its body is covered in short setae.
Pupa: Chliaria othona pupa is shaped like a typical lycaenid, greenish-gray in color with some white markings.
