Description

Appias nero has dark orange upperwings, when the new butterfly hatches the color is very clear, but the color fades to a pale orange yellow after a few days. The male Appias nero has dark veins on the forewings of the upperwings, but not marked, while the females have broad dark borders and a dark subapical stripe on the uppewings.

Distribution

Appias nero can be found in the lowlands, but females are more commonly found at altitudes above 500 m. This species is often seen in small groups along the riverbanks during March-June.
