Life cycle (Metamorfosis) : Eggs of Udaspes folus hatch in 3 or 4 days, the caterpillars are yellowish orange, the head is black, cylindrical with long setae at the posterior end. After eating the first leaves the caterpillar turns dark green and reaches 6.2 mm in length in 2-3 days. In the 2nd instar, the body color is yellowish green, the head is black and the long setae at the posterior. These instars last for 2-3 days with a body length of up to 9.5-10.5 mm. The next instar did not show much change, there is a white patch in the 8th abdominal segment, the length of the body is about 19-29 mm in 3 days. The 4th instar anal plate is black, lasts 4 days with a body length of 29-30 mm. At the last instar, the anal plate is yellowish green, the body looks like it is covered with a white membrane, lasts for 6 days with a body length of about 40-43 mm. When entering the prepupa phase the caterpillar shortens, is yellowish green with a white tinge, the caterpillar wraps itself with silk ribbons.
