Description

Apis dorsata has large body. The bee workers have corbiculum (pollen basket) located on the hind tibia, hairy body to collect pollen, and a ovipositor that modified to a sting. The males (drones) characterized by larger eye, no sting, short, and rounded abdomen. The queen is darker and has bigger abdomen than worker because the reproductive organs are more developed.
