Amandava amandava

Description

Amandava amandava is easily recognized by its round black tail and seasonal red beak. Red butt, black eye line. There are white spots on the body, and red wing feathers. The difference is that non-breeding males are duller but have red rumps while females are duller in color with a few white patches on the fur.

Amandava amandava has habitats in shrubs, grasslands, agricultural land, rice fields, reed clumps. Spread to an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level.

These birds are usually seen in small flocks, flying with a rapid flap of their wings and descending into clumps of grass where they are difficult to observe.
