Description

Adult Accipiter soloensis has a gray-blue upper body color. Back feathers with sparse white tips. Faint transverse stripes on the outer tail feathers. The underbody is white with faint rust-red strokes on the chest and sides. On the thighs there are a few gray stripes, the lower wings are entirely white, except for the tips of the primary feathers which are black. Juvenile upper body brown, underside white. There are dark stripes on the tail, streaks on the throat, and brown stripes on the chest and thighs. The eyes of males are red, females and juveniles are yellow. Beak gray with black tips and orange legs.
