Chalcorana chalconota has a slender body, small to not too large, a tapered snout and a brown tympanum (ear drum) that is slightly curved inward compared to the surface of the temples. The dorsal skin is dark and granulated in females, whereas in males it has many fine nodules. The dorsal skin is yellowish cream, or greenish to brown or dark brown with round spots, the sides of the body (lateral) whitish, yellowish or light yellowish green. The ventral is white or brownish. There is a pair of narrow dorsolateral skin folds on either side of the back. The limbs are long and slender, with full swimming membranes to the tips, except for the tips of the fourth toes (longest toes).
