Brown-banded Bamboo Shark

Chiloscyllium punctatum

Junvenile white black and white bands. Older specimens brown to brown-grey, in part with banding still discernible.

Size : 105cm

Habitat : In coastal reefs, 1-80m. Nocturnal loner. Hidden in feef crevices during the day. At night also in open area, swimming directly on the seabed or very close to it. Feeds on invertebrate bottom-dwelling animals.

Distribution : India, Thailand, Indonesia to the Philippines and S Japan.
