Chiseltooth Wrasse

Pseudodax moluccanus

Yellow upper lip, whitish vertical stripe at tail base.
Juveniles with light stripes along back and belly. They keep predominantly to reef slopes with lots of crevices and cavities for hiding places. They occasionally act as cleanerfish.

Size : 25 cm

Habitat : Coral-rich lagoons, bays and outreefs, 2-40 m. Agile, fast swimmers, usually alone. Feeds on hardshell invertebrates.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
