Blackpatch Triggerfish

Rhinecanthus verrucosus

Large black, roundish oval spot towards the rear of the lower body.

Size : 23 cm

Habitat : Inhabits lagoons and coastal reefs, 1-20 m. Prefers protected mixed zones with seagrass, coral and rubble grounds, also likes less clear water. Alone or in loose groups, shy and uncommon in the majority of regions.

Distribution : Seychelles, Chagos Island and Sri Lanka to S Japan, Yap, Solomons, GBR and Fiji.
