Black-finned Triggerfish

Melichthys indicus

Base of the dorsal and anal fin with white band, caudal fin white edged.

Size : 25 cm

Habitat : At coral-rich outer reef slopes, 5-50 m. Swims alone or in loose groups, often a short distance above the seabed. Feeds on zooplankton drifting in open water.
Flees on disturbance into small reef crevices.

Distribution : Red Sea, Oman and East Africa to Andaman Sea and West Indonesia.
