Checkered Snapper

Lutjanus decussatus

Whitish with bronze-brown horizontal stripe, same color short vertical stripes additionally across the back. Black spot on the tail root.

Size : 30 cm

Habitat : In lagoons, coastal and out reefs, 2-35 m. Alone or in loose groups. Often also to be encountered above small sand-rubble areas between coral blocks.

Distribution : India and Andaman Sea to SW Japan and PNG.
