Napoleon Snake Eel

Ophichthus bonaparti

Creamy-whitish colour with dark body banding. Head with variable pattern of light bronze to dark brown spots.

Size : 75 cm

Habitat : Inhabits fine and coarse sandy areas on coastal and outreefs, 1-20 m. Usually buried to the head. Ambushes small fish and cuttlefish. Can bite in self-defence.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan and Society Islands.
