High-backed, relatively short body, blunt, rounded snout. Juvenile with extended anal and dorsal fin.
Size : 65 cm
Habitat : In rock and coral reefs, deep bays and out reefs, 5-50 m. Swims alone or in schools. Juveniles often along the shore, shallow sand and muddy grounds. Feeds on snails and crustaceans.
Distribution : Red Sea, Arabian Gulf and East Africa to SW Japan, SE Australia and Samoa.
