Singular Bannerfish

Heniochus singularius

Horn on the brow, white ring around snout, dark anal fin.

Size : 25 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and out reefs, frequently also at wrecks, 2-50 m. Shy and uncommon. Juvenile often alone, adults usually in pairs, often only under about 15 m depth. Feeds on coral polyps, invertebrate bottom-dwellers and algae.

Distribution : The Maldives and NW Australia to SW Japan, Micronesia and Samoa.
