Description

Boiga dendrophila has an oval head and is slightly wider than the neck. The top of his head was shiny black with black eyes. The lips and the bottom of the mouth to the lower neck are golden yellow. The upper neck (nape) and upper body are shiny black with thin golden or light yellow stripes. Lower body (except neck) grayish black. dorsal scales are smooth, in 21 or 23 rows down the midsection, with those in the row of very enlarged vertebrae, abdomen 209-253, subcaudal 89 – 118 and paired anal undivided. Includes medium venomous and hindfanged snakes. This snake bite can have serious repercussions on humans, it is usually very painful and swollen around the bite wound, but does not kill a human.

Distribution

The main habitat of this snake is moist forest or forests near rivers, up to a height of 610 meters DPL. However, this snake is most often found in mangrove forests in coastal areas or river estuaries.
